It’s easy to get caught up in our busy 9-5 office routine – forgetting the beautiful destinations and incredible adventures right in our own backyards, just waiting to be discovered. ‘Got To Get Out’ is a social enterprise that was founded in January of 2015 with a simple yet profound mission statement: Connect locals and international visitors, and inspire them to get active, outdoors, and make new friends.
Since launching in 2015 the group has hosted more than 200 outdoor events, attracted over 11,000 Facebook followers and motivated more than 2,000 people to get outdoors for the benefit of their mental and physical health – many testing the waters for the first time.
The initiative started from humble beginnings, with only a hundred or so followers (who were mostly friends and family of founder, Robert Bruce). Today, Got To Get Out events attract 30-40 adventurers per trip, which are offered on roughly a weekly basis. Three years on from its foundation, Got To Get Out is one of the biggest groups of its kind in the country.
Macpac’s partnership with Got to Get Out through the Macpac Adventure Partnership Programme gives Got to Get Out adventurers better access to our gear and expertise when they’re heading into the outdoors, thanks to a year round discount in Macpac stores. The partnership also helps the growing number of Got To Get Out volunteers and staff to get their hands on the gear that’s necessary to lead a successful outdoor adventure.
Got To Get Out will host over 100 outdoor trips this year including hikes, climbing, biking and surf-school. Next, they are expanding into other city centres. To learn more, check out www.facebook.com/gottogetout, @gottogetout_adventures and www.gottogetout.com
