“I’m into nature because nature gives so much to me” – Parks Victoria Ranger

We’re passionate about inspiring the next generation of outdoor lovers. Since 2019, we’ve been the proud principal sponsor of Parks Victoria’s Junior Rangers program. 31 July is World Ranger Day, and it’s a prime opportunity to celebrate the incredible conservation, education and maintenance work Rangers undertake with our communities.

What exactly is Junior Rangers?

Parks Victoria’s Junior Ranger program encourages kids (between the ages of 5-13 years old) to explore Victoria’s plethora of natural parks with a Ranger. Junior Rangers can take part in fun park-based activities like rock pool rambles, historic tours and spotlight night walks.

With an emphasis on hands-on learning, kids who go through the program emerge with a greater appreciation for and connection to the outdoors.

Managing a diverse estate of more than 4 million hectares of land, marine parks and reserves, wetlands and coastline, Parks Victoria offers Junior Rangers a huge playground for their newfound outdoor skills. Importantly, the Junior Rangers program values inclusivity; anyone can join and no membership is required to participate. Junior Ranger activities are run mostly during school holidays and on some weekends, and their online activities are available all year round – particularly valuable in the current COVID situation. A robust online program means kids can complete activities in their local neighbourhood or their own backyards.
